The Mather Cabin

1/2

The Mather Cabin

The Mather Cabin was built in the early 1850's from squared logs and hand-hewn limestone. The cabin originally stood on property in the Gabriel Mills area owned by Samul Mather, a miller and blacksmith. During the time on original grounds, it held church, school and Masonic Lodge Meeting before it became a dwelling. By 2004 the cabin was detreating rapidly. The old settlers wanted to restore it saving the county's heritage and was kept as original as possible. The cabin still stands on the Old Settlers property today and is restored when necessary.
