RICE'S CROSSING         STORE

The Rice's Crossing was built in 1849 in the community called Blue Hill. The store was built by James O. Rice, He later became a Texas Ranger.

In 1871 the name changed to Rice's Crossing. In 1872 the second post office was opened at this location

The store served the community for many years. This was a place where all the people in the area gathered to meet their friends and solve the world's problems. There was a small meat martker and of course groceres and drinks.

When the highway had to widened the community lost their store. They were going to tear the store down, but them someone suggested giving it to an organization to restore. The Old Settler Association restored the store and added restrooms and central heat and air.

Today the store is being used for wedding rehersal dinners, birthday parties, showers and meetings.
